MUTH'S TRUTHS 06/24/2017

Patience is running out among Nevada Republicans with Nevada U.S. Sen.Dean Heller.

Serious people with serious money are now actively looking for a serious challenger to run against him in the GOP primary next year.

It was bad enough that he was a “Never Trumper” in 2016, but his continued public criticism of efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare is proving to be the last straw for many.

For the record, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval NEVER should have expanded Medicaid on the flimsy hope that the federal government would continue to subsidize the expansion indefinitely.  He was warned over and over again not to do so.

He did it anyway, knowing he’d be out of the governor’s office by the time the chickens came home to roost and it’d be somebody else’s problem.

President Donald Trump and the majority of Republicans in Congress are attempting to fix what Sandoval and other misguided liberal governors broke. This is 100% Sandoval’s fault.  Not Trump’s.  Not Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s.  Not House Speaker Paul Ryan’s

Nobody put a gun to Sandoval’s head and forced him to do something so transparently stupid.

And yet there was Sen. Heller on Friday standing next to Sandoval giving him aid-and-comfort by announcing publicly that he was opposed to the Senate bill – “It’s not the answer” - to undo ObamaCare’s unaffordable federal expansion of Medicaid.  Without providing an alternative.

It was such a jab in the eye of Trump and the Republican Party that the uber-liberal New York Times made it their “Top News” story this morning.  How lovely.

The federal government can’t afford to continue funding this expansion of Medicaid.  And Sandoval and Heller say Nevadans can’t afford it either – which conservatives knew and said years ago.  Now both want somebody else to pick up the tab for Sandoval’s fiscal idiocy.  It ain’t right.

And it’s time for Heller to stop covering for Sandoval and get with the program.

Cheers.

P.S.  In his new book, “Understanding Trump,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich explains that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) “is a left-wing, bureaucratic defender of big government and liberalism.”

He goes on to warn that “If the House and the Senate let the CBO survive, they are not going to be able to do anything Trump wants to do, because the bureaucrats won’t score it intelligently.”

And if you doubt Gingrich’s assessment, just consider the fact that the failing, uber-liberal New York Times came to the CBO’s defense with a story this week titled, “C.B.O. Head, Who Prizes Nonpartisanship, Finds Work Under G.O.P. Attack.”

When the CBO “scores” the Senate’s ObamaCare repeal bill, its estimates are going to be wildly high and inaccurate.  But Democrats and their amen corner in the fake news will use those figures to fight repeal and replace.

Congressional Republicans need to take Gingrich’s advice and get rid of the CBO once and for all while they have the majority to do so.

THE ENTREPRENEUR PRESIDENT

“I can take the negative commentary because the positive impressions are so superior to the reports of the detractors.  But I will set the record straight when it might cause damage to my brand or my reputation.  People know I’m a fighter in that sense, and they will think twice before going after me, because I’ll go after them with everything I’ve got.” – Donald Trump, “Midas Touch” (2011)

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS

The Dark Side Of The Sun: Nevada Gives In to Solar Bullies

(Bob Stump) - Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval is a man whose instinct for political self-preservation exceeds his intestinal fortitude in the face of bullies.

Having endured years of body blows inflicted by an army of lobbyists dispatched by California-based billionaires, the governor signed legislation, on June 15, re-instating an antiquated relic which serves as a crutch to the ailing solar rooftop leasing industry: retail-rate net metering.

Rooftop solar ranks among the least cost-effective forms of renewable energy. Yet its lobby holds powerful sway among the political class: Without a smorgasbord of generous tax credits, subsidies and local incentives granted by politicians and regulators, leased rooftop solar would make zero financial sense for consumers.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“A group with ties to President Donald Trump announced Friday it will spend at least $1 million on ads against a Republican senator who will not support the GOP's healthcare bill.  Maggie Haberman of The New York Times was first to report the news on her Twitter account: ‘AMERICA FIRST POLICIES, the pro-Trump/Pence outside group that Pence has been raising for, is preparing a seven-figure ad buy against (Nevada Sen. Dean) HELLER.” – NewsMax, 6/24/17
