For years now, we at Tea Party Patriots have fought against ObamaCare because of what it means in principle (big, expansive government that can compel individuals to purchase bloated health insurance plans they neither want nor need) and because of what it has meant in practice (escalating insurance prices, economic damage, and a bureaucratic overgrowth that erodes quality of care and puts government between patients and their doctors). For all of those reasons, we have stood for full repeal of the law, and we are so grateful to the millions of our supporters who have taken action over the past seven years to stand up for freedom and let Washington, D.C. know that this law must be repealed. Entirely.
The call to action this week is simple: We need to keep the pressure on the Senate to do the right thing and to repeal ObamaCare, once and for all.
Here's the simple background. Over the past few weeks, we have been very supportive of the Cruz-Lee amendment to the repeal bill, which would have allowed the free market to play a role in the insurance market, allowing insurance companies to offer plans that are not compliant with ObamaCare (because, as we have argued, Americans don't want all of those excessive regulations that just drive up costs!). But, as often happens in Washington, good amendments get stripped down and lose their core appeal. That's exactly what has happened to the Cruz-Lee Amendment. What is now included in the bill is unrecognizable from the original idea of the amendment. What we find now is that the amendment language does not allow the non-compliant plans to have their own risk pool. The bottom line is that without separate risk pools, there is no market-driven alternative to ObamaCare. And that is unacceptable.
Please take a simple step this week and call both of your United States Senators and ask them to amend the Consumer Freedom language to allow market forces to be implemented, with different risk pools for different non-compliant plans. Non-compliant plans must be separated from the ObamaCare risk pools, otherwise the amendment language matters very little.

When you speak to the Senate offices, please be sure to stress the following:
- The time to repeal ObamaCare is now. No more games and no more bills that fall drastically short of repealing ObamaCare.
- The Cruz-Lee amendment language in its original form MUST be included. That original language would make meaningful changes to the very regulations that are driving up health insurance costs, and would introduce much-needed free-market reforms that Americans want!
- Without the original Cruz-Lee language, the bill is NOT a repeal ObamaCare bill.
- Americans have voiced their support for ObamaCare repeal in public opinion polls and on Election Day at the ballot box over the past four elections. Republicans hold the majority today in both chambers of Congress because Americans are serious about ObamaCare repeal. It's time for the Senate to get just as serious about repealing the onerous Big Government law that has failed Americans for the past several years.
